Spotted: Mallorca
How do you celebrate the New Year?
Do you paint your front door in red or do you smash some dishes?
Maybe you pour some lead or do you just throw a big New Year´s Eve Party with all your friends and family?
In any way it´s always a big celebration, no matter where you are.
Come⎣...⎦, I hope we shall drink down all unkindness.
-William Shakespeare
When the bell of the town hall in Madrid, starts to announce the first Day of New Year, it´s tradition to eat one grape with each chime. With a stroll through town the next day, you´ll surely be able to find the unlucky grapes on the floor, waiting to be cleared away.
Furthermore it brings luck to wear red lingerie during the celebrations.
But if you plan to stay in Mallorca for New Year´s, you should definitely bring some more time, because that beautiful Island`s got more to offer than the germanised "Ballermann".
If you´re planning to stay at least a long weekend, renting a small apartment in Palma is really worth a shot. You get to grocery shop and cook afterwards with the people you came with.
If you don´t want to do the same during your vacation like in your normal life, going out to a local restaurant can be equally fun. Both options bring people together.
Just like I always love to say:
Food connects.
A visit to the lesser known cities in Mallorca is a must-do. These photos are taken in Alcudia.

A wild cat in the mountains, nearby the "Torre del Verger".
Take the chance and really drive into the mountains, because that´s where you´ll find the best traditional restaurants . Bring a lot of hunger because most times grandmas are standing in the kitchen and we all know when we´re done with grannies food: Never.
The dreaded grapes on New Years Eve. Good Luck.
A typical Aftermath shot of the streets in Palma.
While we´re at it, missing out on Palma is a no-go. Gazing at the cathedral "La Seu" or having a snack at the harbour, in the heart of many sailing ships and yachts, is an unmissable experience.
There´s a restaurant that offers you a spectacular sea-view whilst eating the best sushi:
You´re Welcome .
Take the time and stroll around the cathedral. Try to find every detail inside as well as outside.
I hope I could show you a different side of the small Island Mallorca.
There are many things to see and experience besides getting drunk and partying all night.
Not only the food obviously, but a lot of art as well. You can easily find multiple galleries in Palma, filled with unique artworks.
Over all it guarantees an extraordinary stay. One that shouldn't be missed out on.
A great destination to take beautiful pictures either in the city or in the mountains.
You don´t even have to stay a week; Three to four days are totally enough, perfect for a quick vacation over the New Years Eve.
Although we´re halfway through the year, I hope you manage to fulfil your resolutions.
Best of Strength,
Lena.
