Spotted: Malta
Red, blue and green.
When you look out of the small airplane-window, you might not agree with the presence of any Color. From above it looks like a dry desert with some Houses here and there. In fact the natural vegetation is the contrary of blooming.
But it´s not the faun and flora that colors the sandy Malta in red, blue and green: it´s the doors of houses, the window shutters and of course the sparkling sea.
When you first arrive in Malta, you might struggle with the immense heat that´s pushing down on you.
Especially during summer, the sun being at it´s prime, the floor is literally lava.
Therefore you should bring a lot of sunscreen if you don´t wanna look and feel like a fireball on the run.
But just like anything else, it´s bearable and worth it, because what´s awaiting you on that island, is going to blow all that heat away (metaphorically).
The first and best thing to do must be refreshing oneself in the beautiful sea. Surprisingly though, it´s way warmer than you might think. But still a good opportunity to take some memories in form of digitals.
I´m well aware of the fact, that i´m not really in the position to give big shoutouts yet, but the beauty in red has her own dazzling blog. Check it out: Sparkle and Shine by Lorena.

Most of the series was shot in various locations on Malta. Even if you´re not a huge fan, a Tour brings you to amazing places and shows you more than you could see on your own.
Mdina and Valetta are big spots in terms of shooting locations.
You can find the entrance of Kings Landing in Mdina for example.
The GoT-Tour offered by Malta Film Tours is led by the Actor and Actress of the show Malcolm and Elizabeth Ellul. You get exclusive Information and visit the most special places.
It let´s the heart of a Fan beat even faster.
As as side note: This was the shooting place for World War Z too.
Welcome to the Gardens of Kings Landing. This is where Sansa and Arya were walking through whilst talking in season 1.
Welcome to the Gate of Kings Landing, the most photographed place in Malta. Why would that be?
A typical sight for Malta: colourful doors and window shutters.

This is where most of the Dothraki scenes were filmed and the birthplace of Drogon, Rhaegal and Viserion.
Whilst being there, we wished we could walk around with nothing but shorts just like the Dothraki, because we were actually frying like chicken in the sun.
Fun Fact though is, that during the time when they were shooting the scenes, it was really cold and Daeny and the Dothraki were freezing.
But it´s hard to decide if you would rather fry or freeze.
Nearby lays the famous Popeye Village, which is the original film set of the 1980s production "Popeye".
One of the big Highlights is definitely a visit to the Blue Lagoon.
Reached best by boat, this place is like a piece of art.
The water is turquoise and clear, no editing needed.
If you plan to go there, which you should, do not forget sunscreen and maybe a sun umbrella, because once you´re there it´s hard to get either. Finding shade is nearly a mission impossible and although you´ll be able to buy cool water, sunscreen is rarely found.
But when you´re there, enjoy the water and a cocktail served in a whole pineapple. You´ll love it.
One thing´s for sure: RIP Azure Window. RIP Daenys Virginity.
The famous Azure Window is sadly no longer above sea level.
But the Maltese don´t really want to acknowledge this, because it´s still found on advertising boards and sightseeing-buses.
Maybe that´s why they still offer a bout-tour for 4€; 10 minutes of chugging over crazy high waves, in caves and now, over the Azure Window.
Last but not least: the Island of Gozo.
Dreamy door knocks, narrow streets and charming shops.
One might not expect that whilst entering the ferry, but that just strengthens the Wow-Effect.
If you look for it you´ll find a tiny shop which offers ice cream rolls ( Yumirollz ).
Doesn't just look good, but it tastes delicious as well.
If you look closely, you might find little oasis´ like this.
Red, blue and green.
Now you know why.
Malta is a magical place where the sandy earth tones are mixed with bright reds, blues and greens.
With a lot to offer, it´s a perfect 1-week-trip to explore new traditions and places.
I had a lovely time that I assure you´ll have too.
Last advice I´m giving you: Do not go during summer or wear sunscreen.
Best of Luck,
Lena.
